MISSION

People of Change provides a courageous space to help you find and develop your social justice strengths and incorporate them into your daily life.

We believe a just world requires ongoing education, introspection, and ACTION and that building up your muscle to make change requires community and joy.

Our Vision

Through the work of People of Change, by 2030, we imagine a world where more people in the United States use their unique strengths to create a more safe, fair, and joyful community for everyone. By taking this journey with the people you already like or love, you will joyfully experience transformation within yourself as well as within your group.

We imagine a world where everybody striving for justice for all is normalized.

We imagine a world that includes celebrating diverse representation of people in positions of power, learning about death by police force and gun violence as a story of our past, and shifts in our K-12 education curriculum to equip and empower students to be more civically aware and engaged. This is the world we dream of, work toward, and want to imagine with you.

Our Values and Beliefs

Care is a verb.

We help you clarify what you care about, why, and then transform your care into actions, big or small. Think book club meets your favorite work out class, but for social justice.

Social justice is a muscle to develop.

We aim to reduce the barriers to the social justice movement and meet you where you’re at. Like a gym that cares about your gains, we care about safety, progress, accountability, and having fun!

Joy is a root of justice.

Instead of trying to be happy all the time, we believe that joy, the ability to be present in reality, will give you a more fulfilling life and create a more just world for all.

Change begins with you & continues with community.

Parties of one are ok and a party where you show up unsure of yourself is no fun. Our program helps you understand your strengths more deeply so you can show up in the fight for justice with confidence.

About the Founder

Hi, I’m Jane. I believe in the power of humans, community, and fun! Through deep inquiry and an assets-based lens, my strengths include empowering communities to build up (or break down) systems to best serve their unique needs. My experiences range from restaurant manager, secondary math teacher, instructional coach to teachers, and program manager of an Integrated Learning program serving 18 districts in the Bay Area. My life-long mission is to share and enjoy a just world where every human being is a critical thinker, morally courageous, and deeply in love with their life.

I received my BA from UC Berkeley in Political Economics where I studied why things are the way they are and an MA from Stanford University in Education where I learned how to help people learn. People and entities that give me joy include: Frank Ocean, the Golden State Warriors, hot cheetos, my Korean American identity, and writings by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie and Han Kang.
